As our school family enjoys a wonderful Holiday Season, the campus is filled with construction vehicles and new athletic equipment. Last spring a small group of CHA parents expressed a true interest in providing the restricted contributions for the remodeling of the school’s playground into a spectacular new Athletic Center. During the ensuing months, professionals and contractors were engaged to develop the extraordinary site plan displayed above. On Thursday, December 20, demolition began, with the completion of the entire project expected by the return from vacation. In January, our students will enjoy a full sized competitive basketball/volleyball court with an Atlas BX Cushion System for the safety and comfort of all players. To the east of the Main Court will be two smaller basketball/volleyball courts with Plexipave Sport surfaces and to the west will be a small soccer/kickball field, again enjoying the Atlas BX Cushion System. Surrounding the entire playground will be a Plexipave Sport Surface track, and a large electric scoreboard for both basketball and volleyball will be installed later.
Dedication ceremonies are scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, followed by the “home openers” of two boys’ basketball teams and a girls’ soccer game. Mark this day on your calendar and more detailed information will follow.
Since 2005, Chatsworth Hills Academy has consistently focused on the school’s grounds and facilities beginning with the purchase, redesign, and beautification of the Lower Campus and athletic field. The school’s new Athletic Center continues the Board of Trustee’s commitment to enhancing and expanding CHA’s facilities. Providing for these additions has been the generous support of individual contributors who shared a specific dream of advancing particular areas of the school. Much has been accomplished, new opportunities will become available, and additional contributors will join together in support of the next project. This has always been and will always remain the spirit of CHA!
